Monster
A drawn player
The round opens with a countdown
Before the monster is released the game gives everyone else a window to get out of sight — on screen it reads “Players are hiding. 29 seconds left.” Spend it moving away from the spawn rather than picking the first cupboard you see, because the monster starts where you started.
Your character can give you away
There is a noise mechanic — characters audibly break wind at intervals, and it carries. It is played for laughs, but in practice it is the reason a hiding place that worked for two minutes suddenly stops working. If you are caught in a spot with one entrance and it goes off, you have no second option.
Both maps have a version of it
The developers keep separate places for Hide And Seek in the school and Hide And Seek in the Mines, so the mode is not locked to chapter one. Being the monster is also purchasable odds rather than pure chance — the store sells a pass that doubles your draw rate for each of the two monsters.
